Web design — Watford, Hertfordshire

Web design in Watford, Hertfordshire that Google can read, ChatGPT can quote, and clients book from.

Redman Studio is an independent design and engineering studio in Watford, Hertfordshire, building custom sites for practices and ambitious small businesses across Herts, London and the UK. One senior designer-engineer, no handoffs: a site that looks like the best thing in your field, reads cleanly to Google and the AI models, and goes from brief to live in days, not months — with booking, payments, portals or a shop built in where it needs them.

In their own words.

01 / 02

“He took the colours, logo and ideas I already had and turned them into something that looks exactly as I’d imagined it — only better.”

I’d had a vision in my head for a long time for a website that could become the home of The Vulnerability Club® — a community I created to support GBT+ men. I had absolutely no idea how to take what was in my head and turn it into something that felt professional, welcoming, and genuinely spoke to the people it was designed for.

Paul somehow did exactly that. From the outset he really listened, and understood the feel of the brand almost instinctively.

What impressed me just as much was the technical side. The site is incredibly fast, beautifully built and optimised for search, and structured with newer AI-driven search and discovery in mind. He combines the technical expertise you want from a developer with a really strong eye for design.

He’s also an absolute pleasure to work with: responsive, efficient, easy-going and incredibly good value. I’ve worked with different people on websites over the years, and Paul is genuinely in a different league.

Capabilities

Whatever it needs to do.

“Just a website” is rarely just a website. The studio designs and engineers all of it, so you never need a second agency.

  • 01

    Design & brand

Type, colour, layout and imagery chosen for you — so the site looks like the best thing in your field, because it is designed to be.

  • 02

    Booking & scheduling

Appointments, discovery calls, classes and consultations — booked from the site, straight into your calendar.

  • 03

    Shops & payments

E-commerce, subscriptions, deposits and invoicing, built on Stripe and designed to feel like part of the site, not a bolt-on.

  • 04

    Accounts & portals

Patient portals, member areas and client logins — secure, fast, and owned by you, not rented from a platform.

  • 05

Search — SEO, AEO & GEO

Found on Google, quoted by ChatGPT, named on the map. Engineered into every page, not bolted on afterwards.

  • 06

    AI & automation

Agents, pipelines and automations doing real work behind the site, built with product-grade guardrails: evaluation sets, CI gates, a human approval step wherever output reaches a customer.

Under the hood

For the ones who’ll ask.

You don’t need to read this section — but if you have someone technical in your corner, send them here. Every build ships on the same modern stack, and it is what makes the speed and the search results possible.

  • Next.jsTypeScript

    Next.js

App Router, TypeScript, static pages. Semantic HTML instead of a page-builder’s nested divs. That is the single biggest AEO upgrade on a typical practice site.

  • Vercel

    Vercel

Edge, no crashing host. Skin & Smiles is leaving a host that falls over. Static files on a CDN remove that failure mode: pages stay fast.

  • Tailwind CSS

    Tailwind

The design lives in the templates. Fully responsive from the start: phone, not a desktop squeezed. No Elementor, no theme lock-in.

  • Sanity

Sanity, when you need to edit

Max Wilson, the Club and Olive Hill change copy, menus and photos without a deploy — click-to-edit in a live preview. When rankings are the contract, as on Skin & Smiles, content starts typed in git so nothing silent-drops.

  • Supabase

    Supabase

Postgres, auth and APIs when the site is more than pages. Patient portals, booking, orders. The marketing pages stay static, the app layer sits behind them.

  • Google

    Google Business Profile

Local pack and Maps for practices. Categories, hours and NAP kept consistent with the site. Part of the GEO work, not a separate listing job after launch.

  • JSON-LDllms.txt

    JSON-LD + llms.txt

The graph matches the page. Speakable where a spoken answer makes sense. An llms.txt at the root so models get a clean map of the practice.

  • next/image

    next/image · next/font

Core Web Vitals without a plugin lottery. Alt text is in scope, not optional. 131 images on the old Skin & Smiles site had none.

The studio

A studio of one. On purpose.

Twenty-five years of software engineering for BBC, Sky, LEGO, Argos, Barclays, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, with agency years at AKQA and Wunderman Thompson. The same standard those brands paid for, now pointed at your business.

No juniors, no account managers, no handoffs. The person you talk to is the person who designs, builds and ships your site — which is why the studio takes on a small number of projects at a time, and why every one of them looks like it.

Small also means fast. There is no queue of approvals and no agency calendar: a static site typically goes from brief to live in days, and even a full build with booking or payments ships in weeks, not quarters.

Working together

Six ways in.

Every engagement is fixed-scope, with one senior person end to end. And you own everything at the end: the code, the domain, the content, and the search value it earns.

Every price, published →
  1. 01

    From £3,500

    The site build.

Launch: up to five pages, custom designed, live in a week. Business: up to twelve pages with a CMS, a booking or enquiry flow wired into your tools, and the AEO and GEO groundwork so assistants can cite you. Design is included, the price is fixed, and you own the code at the end.

    Launch and Business, priced →
  2. 02

    From £12,000

    Software and platforms.

When the site has to do work, not just describe it. Payments, bookings, subscriptions and shops on a Supabase backend; customer accounts and portals; role based access; a staging environment and CI so changes ship safely. Custom applications scoped individually.

Commerce, platform and custom builds →
  3. 03

    £4,500 fixed

    The search programme.

Ninety days on the site you already have: a measured baseline, structured data written into the code, question-shaped content, then a report against where you started. Start with the £1,500 visibility audit, credited in full; keep it current afterwards with ongoing search at £950 a month.

  4. 04

    From £4,500

    AI engineering.

For businesses that want AI doing work, not just being talked about. An audit finds where AI pays, a pilot puts one workflow live and measured, a build takes it to production — with evaluation sets, CI gates and a human approval step wherever output reaches a customer.

    Audit, pilot, build, run →
  5. 05

    From £1,500

    Brand & identity.

For the business with a logo but no system. A palette, a type pairing and usage rules, applied across the site, the Google profile and socials — so everything a client sees agrees.

Brand & identity on the price list →
  6. 06

    From £95/month

    Care plans.

After launch: hosting, security updates, backups and monitoring on every plan, then hours of changes, a monthly report and up to a day a month of development as you go up. Nothing compulsory, nothing that locks you in beyond thirty days.

Questions

Asked and answered.

How fast can you build a website?
A static site typically goes from brief to live in days, and a full build with booking or payments ships in weeks — not months. A fast-track option puts urgent builds at the front of the queue for an additional fee.
Do I own the website?
Yes, completely. The code, the domain, the content and the search value it earns are all yours. Nothing is rented, nothing is locked to a platform — if you ever leave, everything comes with you.
What does a website cost?
Builds start from £3,500 for a five-page Launch site, the 90-day search programme is £4,500, and care plans start at £95 a month. Every price is published, and every engagement is a fixed fee agreed in writing before any work starts — no day rates, no retainers that drift. The price you agree is the price you pay. See the full price list.
What are AEO and GEO?
Answer Engine Optimisation and Generative Engine Optimisation: writing pages so AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity can read, quote and recommend your business — not just rank it on Google. Every site here ships with both engineered in, because the assistants and Google read the same HTML.
Do you only work with dental practices?
No — the studio builds for practices and ambitious small businesses of every kind: dental and medical practices, coaches, consultants and therapists, restaurants and membership communities. The flagship rebuild is a 53-page dental practice site, so healthcare content, treatment-page structure and compliance are familiar ground, and the coaching and community sites show the same care applied to a personal brand. Dental practice websites · Websites for coaches and consultants.
Where is Redman Studio based, and do you work outside Watford?
The studio is based in Watford, Hertfordshire, and works with practices and small businesses across Hertfordshire, London and the rest of the UK — recent builds are in Watford, Guildford and online. The discovery call is free and by phone or video, and the work itself does not depend on where you are. Local search for Watford and Hertfordshire businesses.
What happens after launch?
Two options. A care plan: hosting, monitoring, content changes and steady improvements for a flat monthly fee from £95, nothing locking you in beyond thirty days. Or take the code and run it yourself — it is yours either way.
